What I’m learning about 🧠

A spectacular superpower called Stigmergy.

First, a little context.

I woke up this morning to about a hundred unwelcome guests in my living room.

Now before you start judging me for my life decisions, let me clarify that these guests were very small.

No, I hadn’t rented a cast of little people like in The Wolf of Wall Street.

My house guests were ants!

So I donned my Rambo headband, grabbed a can of Raid, and me and these ants had a little conversation.

Why am I telling you this?

Because ants use a fascinating method of indirect coordination to let each other know where food is hidden.

It’s called Stigmergy and involves leaving a trail of pheromones that other ants can follow.
