What The TV Show Prison Break Taught Me About Mindfulness

Here’s what to do when you feel stressed or rushed

One of my favorite TV shows of all time is Prison Break.

It was one of the first shows I binge-watched, and there was a day when I was in high school that I will remember forever.

I had a fever so my mom let me stay home from school. Lying there, unable to do much besides watching TV, I watched 12 episodes of Prison Break in a row.

TWELVE!!

Each episode is 45 minutes long, meaning I sat through nine straight hours of Prison Break.

It was amazing and horrible at the same time.

My brain was so saturated with Prison Break, that when I went to sleep I had dreams about being in the show.

My 9 hours of watching TV turned into 9 more hours of sweaty, feverish dreams.

When I woke up the next day, I was unreasonably tired after attempting to break out of prison for an entire night’s worth of dreaming.

I learned a powerful lesson that day:

Do not binge-watch TV when you have a fever. You will regret it.

Move like Michael
